What is a Kids Safe Site? A Letter From The Webmaster: Dear Brothers and Sisters In Christ, Incidents of child abuse are unfortunately rampant in our society today! Even among Christians and Christian Families. We, at The Fountain Gateway take a position that if any person openly or in secret commits child abuse or knows of child and does not report it then they are openly sinning against God. This includes verbal, sexual, neglect or physical/bodily harm. THINK ABOUT IT! This site is a safe haven and safe reporting instrument of the edict above. If you are involved in child abuse of any kind or know of someone that is or are a party of such - We want you to contact us immediately! We will not only pray for you but will seek any action on your part to stop said abuse! M K Doty (webmaster) The Fountain Gateway. Email: minstry@fountaingateway.com Please put in subject line what your email concerns! Child abuse or sexual abuse taint our community of faith and cut across every racial, social, economic, and religious boundary. This year alone, over one million children will be victims. Often, we in the church, home, ministry etc. have a false sense of security about this problem. As a result, preventive steps may be neglected. Our common stereotypes often bolster this sense of security. The child molester is viewed as a predatory stranger who can easily be spotted by the church family. The sad truth is that 80% of child sexual abuse is perpetrated by someone the child knows and trusts…a parent, teacher, coach, and yes, a church youth worker. Sexual abuse is devastating. It causes deep and sometimes lifelong psychological damage to the victim. The community reputation of a church, home, ministry etc. is jeopardized. Reporters and mini-cam crews from the local news media will ensure that the scandal is well publicized. The church, home, ministry etc. also becomes vulnerable to costly and time-consuming legal action. The Fountain Gateway desires to be a safe place for all children who reach the internet and our site. We believe that preventive steps can be taken to promote the safety of children. We believe that in so doing that you as a parent: 1 ) Fully password protect your computer from your children. 2 ) Never allow them on the internet when they are not supervised by you! 3 ) If doing searches through this site on our search engines pages or at any time through the use of your browser or another site please be careful! Take note that certain Key words will bring back results that you will have to navigate through with care and concern. (This includes words such as: girls, young, boys, graphics, pictures, etc. - you get the idea!) 4 ) If possible make sure that you have the latest in browsers that allow you to set security levels within their structure. Currently these include: IE5.+, Netscape Navigator 4.5+ and Opera 4.0+. 5 ) Make sure that you have either online (through your ISP) and/or system software (on your computer) such as NetNanny; SafeSurf and other popular safety software. NOTE* Remember just like the TV even these you have to monitor - since they are not 100% effective and controllable. These are preventative program measures that you can take to protect your child from abuse or sexual abuse on the internet. Effective education in these areas will help to safeguard our children and youth. Let our "it could never happen here" attitude become one of "we won't let it happen here!" In so doing, here at The Fountain Gateway we have checked every one of the resources at least once and usually more than once in the course of listing them as safe sites for not only our Children but you also. Remember here-in-again though: that the internet changes as do people and safe links or resources. Plus they can become unstable, hacked or re-directed and become offensive in language and in content to our Children and ourselves! If you come across such a site - immediately report it to us and appropriate action will take place on this site in that it will be removed and also sent an email to desist and reported on this site as having gone SOUR!
